This exclusive icon piece of Diamond Point is specially designed in honor of our 120th anniversary. Only one is available for each copy. This beautiful ring, made from 18 carat yellow gold with a weight of 6.9 grams, is equipped with an oval tanzanite, surrounded by 70 brilliant cut diamonds with a total weight of 1.13 ct. The ring has a minimum width of 2.1 mm, a maximum width of 19 mm and a height of 8 mm.

Colour

The color of a diamond, or rather, the lack of color in a diamond is indicated by a color degree. Each color has a degree where degree D is the highest possible degree (completely colorless) and degree Z is the lowest degree (perceptible color). Cut

The grinding shape of a diamond is the shape in which the rough diamond is sharpened before the diamond is processed in a jewel. There are many different forms in which a diamond is sharpened. The most famous grinding shapes are, for example, the Brilliant, Princess, Emerald and Hearts & Arrows.

The value of a diamond is determined on the basis of four factors, the 4Cs:

Cut (grinding shape)
Color (color)
Clarity (brightness)
Caratweight (carat weight)

Of these 4Cs, the grinding shape is the only factor that people can influence. It requires craftsmanship and even mathematics to transform a rough diamond into a sharpened diamond. For example, the diamond cutter has to deal with perfect proportions, finish and symmetry. This is important because these factors determine the sparkle and the "fire" (the refraction and reflection of the light of the diamond).

What types of sharpening shapes are there

Cut	Features
Brilliant	Also called 'De Ronde Diamant': the most famous and most popular grinding shape with 57 facets. With its exceptional sparkle and modern, timeless appearance, this shape can be seen many engagement rings and other jewelry.
Princess	Specially designed to get a maximum sparkle from a square shape. A Princess Diamant consists of 76 facets. Due to the traditional appearance with a modern twist, this grinding shape is also often used in engagement rings. Beautiful for the modern-day Royalty!
Hearts & Arrows	One in the million diamonds can be selected as Hearts & Arrows Diamant. The diamond is perfectly sharpened and the proportion and symmetry are unmistakable. Under a special magnifier, a pattern of hearts and arrows becomes visible in the diamond.
Baguette	The baquette grinding shape is elongated with a quadrangular facet -cut surface. The sparkle of the diamond mitigates the straight lines. With its light, the baguette sharpening creates a kind of "halls of mirrors" effect that ensures an elegant and refined appearance.
Peonia	A Peonia cut diamond exists 88 facets, giving these diamonds a breathtaking light reflection. The Peonia Diamant therefore has the lush appearance of a peony. Under a special magnifier, the special Peonia pattern is visible in the diamond. Peonia Diamonds are exclusively available in Europe at Diamond Point.
Cushion	The breathtakingly beautiful cushion -shaped diamond is known for its large facets and rounded corners, which makes the sparkle of the diamond optimal. The shape and sharpening emphasize the intensity and color of diamonds and other color stones. The sharpening is a perfect mix of traditional design and modern technology.
Marquis	The Marquis Sharing shape has 58 facets, is long, narrow, and runs smoothly to the ends. The sparkle comes from the center of the diamond. This grinding shape makes fingers and hands look longer and narrower. This sharpening shape is a real eye-catcher.
Buddha	The diamonds of Diamond Buddha are hand -sharpened by hand in the form of a meditating Chinese Guan Yin. Guanyin is the goddess of comfort and grace. The diamond symbolizes eternity, prosperity and happiness. The Buddha sharpened diamond has 54 facets and is exclusively available at Diamond Point In the Netherlands.
Emerald	In one word; unique. The Emerald has a rectangular grinding shape in which both the pavilion and the corner points are ground. The Emerald Diamant is very similar to the Baquette Diamant but consists of more corners. The Emerald Diamant consists of 48 to 50 facets.
Asscher	The Asscher Diamant was developed in 1902 by the Asscher brothers from the Netherlands. This grinding shape is very similar to the Emerald Diamant, only the Asscher is square. This grinding shape was very popular in the 1920s and became popular again after the grinding shape was reflected in the movie Sex and the City.
Octagon	The octagon diamond is a grinding shape that was used before the brilliant was discovered. This grinding shape has 8 facets on both the top and bottom.
Rose	Looks like the brilliant grinding shape, but, in contrast, has a flat bottom. It is an antique grinding shape, one of the grinding methods that preceded the development of the modern brilliant grinding shape. The rose diamond has a bulging top and has 9, 12 or 24 facets.
Oval	Oval diamonds have almost the same sparkle as the round brilliant. This grinding shape consists of 56 facets and because of the oval shape, rings with the oval diamonds and fingers look longer and slimmer.
Heart	The ultimate symbol of love is seen in a grinding form as the most romantic form of diamond.
Pear	The pear (or shuttoque) grinding shape has the shape of a raindrop. It is therefore a combination of the round diamond and the Marquis sharpening shape and contains 58 facets.

Brightness

The purity of a diamond is determined on the basis of the number and size of microscopic imperfections, also called inclusions, which occur in almost all diamonds and do not influence the beauty of a diamond in a observable way. Diamonds with the least and smallest imperfections get the highest purity rate

What types of sharpening shapes are there

Purity	Name
LC	Loupe-clean No inclusions are visible with the magnifying glass. The diamond is flawless, very rare and of the best quality.
VVS1 & VVS2	Very very small inclusions The inclusions are very difficult to find with a closer look. The diamond is of excellent quality.
VS1 and VS2	Very Small Inclusions The inclusions are fairly easy to find by the eye. The diamond is of very good quality and less expensive than the VVS1 or VVS2.
SI1 and SI2	Small Inclusions The inclusions are easy to find very easy to find by the eye. The diamond is of good quality.
P1	Pique 1 The inclusions are difficult to find with the naked eye due to the DeBoven side of the diamond.

Carat

The term "carat" stands for the weight of a diamond or other gemstone (1 carat = 0.2 grams). A carat is subdivided into one hundred points and is always expressed in two decimal places (1.00 carat = 100 points). Larger diamonds are found less often than smaller diamonds. That is why a diamond with a weight of, for example, 1.00 carat is more valuable than the total weight of 2 small diamonds of 0.50 carat each.
